Students, ex-students and family members of Tonga College have finished five days of celebration celebrating the 125th anniversary of their school.
Tonga College was established as an all boys school in 1872 and was originally located where Nuku'alofa's government primary school is today, until it was moved to 'Atele in 1942.
To begin the celebration a special wreath laying ceremony took place at the Mala'ekula Royal Tombs. Several parades ventured through Nuku'alofa streets during the celebration, and special welcome feasts, barbecues and other functions took place during the five days of celebration.
Professional PR was delighted to assist the “Kaute Kula” and the Social Committee with the decorations of the Ball at the International Dateline Hotel with a red and white theme. Miss Heilala Tessi Toluta’u (recently crowned Miss South Pacific) and local talent Suliasi Pole’o performed for a truly appreciative audience. A staff member of the hotel was so moved she volunteered an impromptu tau’olunga for the evening.
Professional PR Tonga wishes to congratulate the students and ex-students, and wishes Tonga College ‘Atele all the best.
