Professional PR proudly organized the Tonga Women’s International Social Club’s (TWISC) October “Pink” lunch, hosted by TWISC member Christine ‘Uta’atu. Over $2,000 was donated to the Tonga Breast Cancer Society on 15 October from the pink themed luncheon at the ‘Uta’atu residence in Tofoa.
“TWISC has a lunch every month and we each get a chance to organize and host it. We normally rotate it around different restaurants. Because October is recognized as the International Breast Cancer Awareness month and as Secretary of the Tonga Breast Cancer Society, I wanted to host the October lunch and donate the proceeds to this cause that I strongly support,” explained Christine.
The luncheon was aptly called the Pink Lunch and Christine ensured pink was incorporated into various aspects of the program to create more awareness. Members walked into a pathway draped in pink material only to emerge into an area decorated in various shades of pink.
The program was relaxed and fun filled. The opening prayer was followed by welcome remarks from TWISC Vice President, Cherie ‘Aho. Special prizes won through a voting sheet selected winners for 5 categories being Prettiest in Pink; In the Pink; Pinkest Pink; Best Pink Jewellery and Most Creative Pink. Twenty five raffle prizes were drawn and pink packaged door prizes given to all who turned up in support of the Tonga Breast Cancer Society. An auction of various fun prizes rounded off the luncheon. The prizes were donated by the host save 3 of the auction items. The proceeds were handed over to Polotu Fakafanua Paunga, President of the Tonga Breast Cancer Society.
The Pink Lunch menu featured Smoked Salmon, Wasabi and Pickled Ginger Tartines, Large Prawns with Salsa Rosa, Citrus Glazed Ham with Pecans, Roast Turkey Breast with Rosemary and Garlic, Cranberry Sauce Wild Rice Salad, Waldorf Salad, Melon Ball Fruit Salad with Raspberry Sauce and Strawberry Shortcake served with Lindauer Fraise Strawberry Sparkling Wine, Pink Lemonade and Tonga Pure Water.
