The Tonga National Youth Congress (TNYC) presented the Tonga National Canoe Festival on Saturday the 13th of October 2007. The guest of honour was H.R.H. Princess Latufuipeka Tuku'aho who is also the Patron of the TNYC.
Seven teams from island groups such as the Niuas, Vava'u, Ha'apai, 'Eua, Tongatapu and others launched canoes in the festival.
These canoes were built in just two weeks under the guidance of Master Canoe Builder Sitiveni Fehoko. After the Guest of Honour inspected the completed canoes, they were then launched and floated at the wharf to the delight of all.
